About the Role
As a Food Service Team Member, you will be an essential part of the in-store team. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that every customer receives hot, delicious food served quickly and efficiently. You will work as part of a friendly team that focuses on delivering high-quality service and consistently fresh food. You will be trained to follow KFC’s gold-standard procedures and recipes, while strictly complying with hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Your day-to-day duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare all KFC menu items, including chicken, sides, and beverages, according to KFC’s standard operating procedures.
- Use proper cooking techniques and maintain equipment hygiene while following quality control processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment to ensure food safety.
- Product Monitoring & Portioning
- Accurately portion ingredients and cooked items using approved KFC procedures.
- Monitor product freshness by checking expiration times and dates, taking prompt action when necessary.
- Ensure product holding equipment is used correctly and food is served at optimal temperatures.
- Health & Safety Compliance
- Rigorously follow cleaning schedules for food preparation, storage areas, and utensils.
- Maintain personal hygiene and adhere to health and safety protocols.
- Follow standard procedures for sanitization and cleanliness throughout your shift.
- Customer Service
- Ensure every order is accurate, fresh, and presented to customers in a timely manner.
- Greet customers warmly, provide efficient service, and ensure a pleasant customer experience.
- Handle customer queries politely and refer any issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Team Collaboration
- Work cooperatively with team members and managers to ensure smooth store operations.
- Be flexible with shifts, including weekends and public holidays, and contribute to team success.
- Follow the leadership of the Restaurant General Manager, Assistant Manager, and Shift Supervisors.
- Brand Representation
- Embrace Yum! Brands’ core values and culture principles.
- Consistently represent the KFC brand in a professional, respectful, and enthusiastic manners

Qualifications and Experience
- No formal qualifications required (Matric preferred but not essential)
- Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or retail will be an added advantage
- Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa
