Job Overview
Tiger Brands, Africa’s largest listed FMCG manufacturer, is seeking a Filler Packer to support processing and packaging operations. This role serves as a phase-out and/or waiting area while Autonomous Operators receive the necessary training.
The successful candidate will perform basic and manual production tasks while ensuring quality, safety, hygiene, and operational standards are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Packaging
- Perform basic and manual tasks involved in product processing and packaging
- Operate primary and secondary processing and packaging equipment
- Adjust, maintain, and control machinery within approved operating parameters
- Pack finished products according to production plans and quality standards
- Support continuous operations, including staggered lunch breaks
Quality Control
- Complete all relevant operational documents and records
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Respond to quality control and quality assurance results when required
- Report all non-conformances timeously
- Adhere to key performance indicators (KPIs)
Hygiene & Housekeeping
- Apply Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at all times
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness on equipment and in work areas
- Use allocated cleaning materials correctly
- Ensure hygiene standards are strictly followed
Health & Safety
- Comply with Health and Safety regulations and company manufacturing protocols
- Ensure equipment is safe and all safety features are operational
- Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety practices
Workplace Improvement
- Participate in Invocoms and MECP activities
- Identify and report non-compliances using the SGA process
- Apply Manufacturing Excellence methodologies (MECP, 20 Keys)
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Ability to perform manual and repetitive tasks
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing/production environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to follow instructions, SOPs, and safety rules
- Team player with good communication skills
