Position Summary: Shop Assistant/Cashier (P27)
The P27 position is designed to provide additional support to stores during peak trading periods, such as seasonal promotions, holidays, back-to-school campaigns, and end-of-month sales. In this role, your primary objective is to deliver a memorable and efficient shopping experience to every customer who enters our Soweto store.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
1.
Customer Engagement and Assistance
- Welcome customers with warmth, energy, and professionalism.
- Build rapport with customers by showing genuine interest in their needs.
- Offer knowledgeable advice about store products, promotions, and offers.
- Assist with locating items, checking stock availability, and providing alternatives.
- Address customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.

Point-of-Sale (POS) Operations
- Process purchases efficiently using our computerized till system.
- Handle various payment methods: cash, debit/credit cards, mobile apps.
- Issue accurate receipts, manage refunds, and process exchanges as per policy.
- Ensure a fast, friendly, and error-free checkout experience.
- Maintain till float accuracy and follow cash-up procedures.

Merchandising and Stock Replenishment
- Unpack deliveries and prepare merchandise for the sales floor.
- Ensure products are correctly priced, tagged, and displayed.
- Keep shelves fully stocked and displays neat, attractive, and aligned with promotions.
- Rotate stock to avoid expired or outdated items.
- Monitor inventory levels and alert management of low-stock items.

Store Hygiene and Presentation
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in your assigned area at all times.
- Assist with cleaning of the store, including tills, shelves, fitting rooms, and back-of-house.
- Follow daily housekeeping routines and comply with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure that the store environment is inviting and visually appealing to customers.

Team Collaboration and Store Performance
- Work closely with store colleagues and supervisors to achieve daily goals.
- Participate in briefings, training sessions, and feedback reviews.
- Support teammates with restocking, queue management, and customer assistance.
- Demonstrate commitment to store KPIs (key performance indicators), including sales, service, and store standards.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the P27 Shop Assistant/Cashier role, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Completed Grade 12/Matric (compulsory)
- South African citizen or legally eligible to work in South Africa
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Strong communication skills in English (additional South African languages are a plus)
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods
- Available to work flexible retail hours, including:
- Weekends
- Public holidays
- Early or late trading hours
- Must reside in or around Soweto, with reliable transportation to and from work
