We are expanding and, therefore, need professional and qualified truck drivers to work for us in our company, East Rand. Preferably, our client will drive heavy goods vehicles because they transport goods around Gauteng and other locations, as needed.
Job Description
As a Truck Driver with H Systems (Pty) Ltd., you will be part of one of the teams that ensure safe and punctual transportation of equipment and goods to and from sites. You will drive a variety of commercial heavy-haul vehicles, primarily long-distance and regional trucks, in compliance with all road safety regulation and company operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Operate and drive heavy equipment to move the product to the customers and company warehouses
- Perform pre-trip, in-transit, and post-trip equipment and vehicle inspection on equipment.
- Loading and unloading of cargo must be performed safely per safety procedure that loads are secure
- Maintain mileage, fuel usage, and delivery route correctly through electronic or paper logs
- Take exception routes and exception routes because of traffic, weather, or road conditions only when required.
- Direct the delay, breakdown, mechanical failure, or accident fleet manager.
- Keep in touch with dispatchers for instruction and details transmission.
- Obey company rules, traffic regulations, and Department of Transport (DoT) laws.
- Keep trucks in condition and tidiness by servicing and monitoring servicing schedules.
- Routine car maintenance schedules such as oil, water, tyre pressure, and fuel testing.
- Ensure proper customer care through being friendly in nature with customers at pick-up and drop-off points.
- Observe all traffic regulations on the highway and company regulations to be free from any accident or loss of goods.
* Be able to assist other colleagues in off-loading, loading, and setting up logistics when needed.
The candidates should possess the following minimum qualities to fit this role:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid South African Code 14 (EC) driver’s license.
- Current valid professional driving permit (PrDP).
- 3 years’ experience driving in SA long-distance and/or heavy vehicle.
- Grade 10 and above (Matric certificate will be an added value).
- Clean traffic record with no serious offenses for the past 24 months.
Other Qualities and Skills:
- Knowledge of road traffic laws and measures of safety.
- Adept in the use of GPS gear and in reading maps.
- Physical stamina and endurance to handle lifting heavy loads in the shortest time possible.
- Punctuality and independence with little supervision.
- Effective English and/or Afrikaans communication skills.
- Punctuality, reliability, and responsibility for the delivery within the given time.
- Basic car mechanic knowledge will be an added advantage in regular car inspection and maintenance.
Work Environment
•The majority of the work will be done on the road and in inclement weather.
•Wherever possible, weekend, public holiday, and overtime working should be expected based on the delivery schedules.
•Long-distance driving subsistence and accommodation allowance.
•Protective clothing and uniforms will be supplied.
Compensation
•Salary Scale: R12,000 – R18,000 (Depending on endorsement and experience)
